Second Call for Papers: The Impact of Arab Spring on the Study of Islam
The Bulletin for the Study of Religion invites submissions of
3,000 to 4,000 words for a special issue addressing the impact of the
Arab Spring on the academic study of Islam. We are particularly
interested in articles that reflect on such topics as the role of the
scholar as public intellectual, the impact on pedagogy, as well as
cultural and political analyses of Islamic communities both within and
outside of the Middle East. Articles should strive to apply theoretical
analysis to the topic, rather than take a normative political or
theological stance (though including personal reflections from classroom
or institutional experiences are certainly welcome). Queries should be
sent to the editors, Philip Tite (philip.tite@mail.mcgill.ca) and Kelly Baker (kbaker27@utk.edu). Online submissions and guidelines: http://www.equinoxpub.com/bulletin/ Deadline for submissions: August 1, 2013.
Please pass this along to anyone who might be interested.
