As James Carville said, "Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between." <br /><br />Thanks for the post, Mike, and many more thanks for inviting me to your class. What a great bunch of students! Fun conversation. For anyone else who might use the book, or if you're just discussing New South civil religion(s), I'm happy to Skype in. I always learn something new when I talk to people about this subject, even though I'm the one who is supposed to know something about it... <br /><br />"I know one thing, that I know nothing"Art Remillardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03857242536492717015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-21632759528567948752012-03-10T10:11:25.540-07:002012-03-10T10:11:25.540-07:00Ed, I may be misremembering, but did you, Scott Po...Ed, I may be misremembering, but did you, Scott Poole, Ed Baptist, and another guy (that I can't remember) present papers on civil religion/Lost Cause at SHA in 2004? Gaines Foster was the respondent, and I remember him beginning his comments with the (para)phrase: "I thought we were done talking about civil religion and the lost cause." Long pause. Awkward silence. "But these fine papers demonstrate that there's indeed more to be said." Gotta love Gaines' humor, and his suspicious reading of CR/LC in Ghosts of the Confederacy.Mike Pasquierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00910360700893031424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-52295309210023632852012-03-10T10:00:50.041-07:002012-03-10T10:00:50.041-07:00and how could i forget to mention W. Incidentally, my class and I had the privilege of asking Patrick Mason about his new book on "The Mormon Menace," which my students and I recently read (see: http://esrh.blogspot.com/2012/03/interview-with-patrick-mason.html)Exploring the Study of Religious Historyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00810633034359617922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-27128097462258792702012-03-09T23:10:21.369-07:002012-03-09T23:10:21.369-07:00oops .. that was meant to begin "good stuff&q...oops .. that was meant to begin "good stuff"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-37411868861864489112012-03-09T23:10:01.282-07:002012-03-09T23:10:01.282-07:00od stuff!!!
