I really like the comparison ...Great post, Samira. I really like the comparison with Obama. It's also glad to see someone take the assimilation angle on this with a little more nuance. There are a handful of Hindu South Asians running on Democratic tickets in the fall who exemplify the 'active pluralism' you mentioned.
