I can understand why faithful Mormons ...Anonymous,

I can understand why faithful Mormons would find that comment about the BOM offputting (putting it mildly), but the idea comes straight from faithful Mormons scholars like Terryl Givens. There's been a much stronger emphasis on reading and studying the BOM since the early 1980s, so the comment is not as applicable anymore.John G. Inaccuracies and misstatements abound. Principle among them is the notion that the book of Mormon is a sacred object to be venerated. The author claims that the presence of the scripture is at least as important as its content. Converts to Mormonism as well as faithful members will tell you that it is the teachings contained in the book that draw them to the church, Not the mere fact that it exists.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-32735188924590358012012-08-07T13:40:16.406-06:002012-08-07T13:40:16.406-06:00And Kevin, that sounds unthinkable to me, if not d...And Kevin, that sounds unthinkable to me, if not downright crazyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-63689395375783057362012-08-07T12:02:10.009-06:002012-08-07T12:02:10.009-06:00Ha!Ha!Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13838699621239633661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-59796538985069410302012-08-07T10:42:06.267-06:002012-08-07T10:42:06.267-06:00it's not like the author called the Mormon use...it's not like the author called the Mormon use of the Christus an icon of white supremacy or anything like thatAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37589721331585843.post-2770610669420558312012-08-07T09:20:22.966-06:002012-08-07T09:20:22.966-06:00I wish I could convince Mormon friends on facebook...I wish I could convince Mormon friends on facebook that this is, in fact, a sympathetic look at Mormonism.
